Every year, Women’s History Month encourages the celebration of women’s advancement, reflection on ongoing obstacles to gender equity and recognition of trailblazing women that uplift their communities. At BELLA+CANVAS, we believe all women can be trailblazers. We believe in celebrating our differences and we create female-focused fits that allow women from all different backgrounds to express themselves through style, and to show the world what they stand for.
We asked the five talented faces of our 2022 Female Edit to share who they are, what they stand for and how they live the BELLA+CANVAS mission: be different. Here they share inspiring stories of how they’re breaking the bias; of how they’re powerful; of how they’re different.
FITZ
What makes you unique?
“I’ve been told that I have a loving aura and that I present myself as such. Well, that’s what sources say! So, I say whatever the sources say! I’m very resilient.”
What are your favorite things about yourself?
“I’ve gone through quite a bit of adversity throughout my life, and at the end or after the adversity has been experienced, either I prove myself wrong or other people wrong who doubted me with whatever venture I was setting out to do. So, it’s great to see that I’ve been able to accomplish the unimaginable or unthinkable, whether I thought I couldn’t do it, or other people thought I couldn’t. It’s a pretty cool thing about myself, I have to say.”
NATALIE
When are you most comfortable?
“I feel most comfortable when I’m surrounded by creative, like-minded individuals, especially when we both have a mutual passion for something that we can bond over.”
What makes you unique?
“A trait that makes me unique is that I am very malleable—I’m very open to changing myself and growing. There’s a famous quote that says, ‘know thyself,’ and I feel like I spend a lot of time getting to know myself and transforming.”
CANDICE
When are you most comfortable?
“I feel my most comfortable definitely when I’m fully clothed, and when I’ve had a good self-care day. There is such a sexiness about being clothed and being who you are around people and not feeling like you have to change.”
What are your favorite things about yourself?
“My favorite thing about myself is my willingness to try anything, experience new things, try new foods, embrace myself in new cultures… It’s something that I fall in love with about myself constantly.”
TASHI
What makes you unique?
“What makes me unique is my ability to go after whatever it is that I want in life, and most of the time I actually get it. Things end up going the way that I want them to go, even though the journey may have been stressful or may have seemed like I was losing my mind in the process. Most of the time things just end up the way that they’re supposed to!”
What are your favorite things about yourself?
“My favorite thing about myself is how reliable I am to the people that I love. I feel like I am very dependable. I love to help people, and everybody in my life knows that about me.
MICHALEA
What makes you unique?
“I think a trait that would make me unique, in my eyes at least, would be being from a small town having grown up with southern hospitality—my family taught me good manners. I’ve always brought that to the table, to friendships or to work. I pride myself on having good manners, on always being sweet and nice!”
What are your favorite things about yourself?
“My favorite thing about myself would be my relationship with my niece, Olivia. She’s six and she’s from Oklahoma. She’s just a little mini-me! So, I feel like everything that I love about myself is in her and everything that I love about her is in me!”
