Every year, BELLA+CANVAS sponsors a one-of-a-kind event: The annual race in support of the Pat Tilman Foundation. We’ve loved being a part of this event year after year, and this year, we opted to get the entire BELLA+CANVAS team involved so each and every one of us could really see the impact this foundation makes on the community.
For those of you who don’t already know, Pat Tillman played football for the ASU Sun Devils, and went on to play for the Cardinals in the NFL. After the 9/11 attacks, Tillman put his NFL career on hold to serve his country. Sadly, in 2004, he lost his life, and shortly after, the Pat Tillman Foundation was born. Today, the Foundation works closely with ASU to provide support for spouses and veterans through educational scholarships.
The BELLA+CANVAS team was so proud to be a part of such an incredible tradition. Each and every one of us was truly in awe of the entire experience – it was unreal to see so many different people come together to support such a wonderful cause. We left feeling inspired, touched, and ready to take on more events like this in the near future.
The BELLA+CANVAS motto has always been “Be Different”, and that is exactly how Pat lived his life. He didn’t do what was expected of him, he did what he felt was right. For the race, Pat Tilman printed our tees with the words “Live Your Dash.” While the messages are read differently, they both represent the belief that while everyone’s “dash” or “passion” may be different, each can lead to success, happiness, and joy. And as we watched each runner cross the finish line, this was more apparent than ever.
