Myth: DTG printing only works on 100% cotton tees.

Fact: It is possible to get an awesome direct-to-garment print on the BELLA+CANVAS triblend t-shirts.

DTG Printing

We’re seeing a major shift in the online e-commerce industry towards a softer blend,  and we’re here to tell you that you can still pair those fabrics with your favorite printing techniques.

According to our friends at TeeFury, an online e-commerce platform that sells unlimited edition pop culture shirts and is a big-time printer in the DTG space, triblends can work great with DTG, depending on the quality of the garment. Because of the variations that exist between the various makes of DTG machines, it’s recommended that printers do some setting tests to determine if any adjustments need to be made between printing on cotton versus triblend. Overall, according to TeeFury, the success really comes down to the quality of the t-shirt.

So which tee actually works best?

The guys over at TeeFury sampled and tested multiple triblend fabrics from different manufacturers and ranked the performance based on three key factors – color vibrancy, dye migration and clarity of the line work. And guess what? BELLA+CANVAS’ performed the best.

See for yourself in the video below!

One of the reasons our triblends worked better than other brands for DTG was because they are the only triblends knit with a 40-single needle. With DTG, the yarn diameter has a big impact on how well a shirt accepts the ink. A higher single count, means there is a smoother surface for printing.

TeeFury still says 100% cotton is superior over blends, but if you’re looking for a softer tee, BELLA+CANVAS’ triblend works great!
